The winners of my giveaways are as follows:

  1. Toast8: Queen B
  2. Emma book & movie: John (@ gmail)
  3. Mansfield Park book & movie: Michelle

I will be contacting you today via e-mail to let you know how to collect your prize. Please, everyone, make sure you are checking your spam folder! You'll have four days to respond to my initial e-mail with your snail mail address. If I don't hear from you by then, I will pick a new winner.

Thank you to everyone who played along! What fun! I can't wait to share my love of the classics with you!

If you are new here and found me via the carnival, why don't you subscribe to my feed (click that orange button on the left sidebar to add me to your feedreader) so you'll know every time I update my blog with my infinite wisdom. ;)

Bloggy Giveaway: Two Classic Books

Carnival_buttonThis giveaway is now closed.

I love to read. Two of my all-time favorite books are Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice and Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre.

Today you have a chance to win both books. If you haven't read them, you will love them. I have yet to find anyone who doesn't simply adore either of these books. If you are that person, please don't tell me. I don't want to know. It will ruin my faith in humankind.

Wanna win the books? Leave me a comment on this post. That's it! Of course, I'd love it if you wrote something besides "Pick me!" or "I want this!" because I'd rather read about how you love Jane Austen and the Bronte sisters, but any comment counts.

The only thing I ask is that you don't enter more than once because duplicate entries will mean that you don't get any entries. Just so you know and all. And no anonymous comments because, hello? How can I contact you if you're anonymous? Just sayin'.

  • This giveaway is open to US residents only because I'm nothing if not a total procrastinator and cheap to boot.
  • You don't have to be a blogger to play along.
  • I'll pick a winner on Friday and contact you that same day via e-mail. You have four days to respond. If I don't hear from you by then, I'll have to choose a new winner. Make sure you're checking your spam folder.

Bloggy Giveaway: Emma

Carnival_buttonThis giveaway is now closed.

I love to read. I love to watch movies. If both of those happen to be Jane Austen stories, all the better. Today and tomorrow I am going to share with you my love of Jane Austen.

Today's giveaway is the book Emma and the movie Emma (the one with Gweneth Paltrow--it's the only one Borders had in stock. It's good.). So you can read the book, then watch the movie. Or vice versa.

Wanna win it? Leave me a comment on this post. That's it! Of course, I'd love it if you wrote something besides "Pick me!" or "I want this!" because I'd rather read about how you love Jane Austen and could spend all day watching her movies back-to-back or reading her books. But any comment counts.

The only thing I ask is that you don't enter more than once because duplicate entries will mean that you don't get any entries. Just so you know and all. And no anonymous comments because, hello? How can I contact you if you're anonymous? Just sayin'.

Please note: This DVD is a plain ol' DVD. Not Hi-Def. Not Blu-Ray. Just a plain ol' DVD. The book is just a plain ol' paperback book. Perfect to take in the car or to the pool this summer. The nice things about books are that they're so portable.

Bloggy Giveaways: Toast 8

Carnival_buttonThis giveaway is now closed.

Oh yes! The Bloggy Giveaways Carnival is in full swing this week! I hope you're playing along because it's great fun.

Here is my prize for today: TOAST 8

I have it on my Mac, but I haven't been able to use it because I dropped my Mac and bent the opening to the CD player thingy. I hear great things about TOAST 8, though. And if I could use mine, I'm absolutely certain the sun would shine brighter, birds would sing more sweetly, and Matt Damon would come clean my house.

What is TOAST 8? It software for the Mac that let you (according to Amazon.com--where I copied the following from)

  • copy your audio CDs, movies and DVDs
  • take your favorite TV shows to go, with easy TiVoToGo transfers
  • Blu-ray Disc Support: Burn up to 50 GB - 12,500 music tracks, or 50,000 photos, or 4 hours of raw HD video
  • restore and recover files from scratched or damaged discs while copying
  • create DJ-style audio CDs with the same pro-quality audio features previously found in Roxio Jam
See what I mean? It's awesome.

Wanna win it? Leave me a comment on this post. That's it! Of course, I'd love it if you wrote something besides "Pick me!" or "I want this!" because I'd rather read about how you'll use the software. But any comment counts.

The only thing I ask is that you don't enter more than once because duplicate entries will mean that you don't get any entries. Just so you know and all. And no anonymous comments because, hello? How can I contact you if you're anonymous? Just sayin'.

I'll pick a winner on Friday and contact you that same day via e-mail. You don't have to be a blogger to play along, but it will definitely help if you at least have a Mac since the software is specifically for a Mac computer.

I plan to have some other giveaways going on here this week, but I have yet to decide what they should be. I'm nothing if not a complete and total procrastinator.

Good luck and thanks for stopping by!

Bloggy Giveaways Day 4

Carnival_button_2_4 Do you ever get the idea I may be giving stuff away so I don't have to write anything riveting this week? Oh yes, I do know you think my blogging is riveting. Edge-of-your-seat stuff. Well, it appears I'm fresh out of rivet this week and all I have are presents for you. So let's get to the Bloggy Giveaways Carnival Day 4!

I have for you today an amazing self-indulgence set from Red Envelope. Yes. THAT Red Envelope.

The set includes almond soap, almond lotion with shea butter, and a candle (presumably almond--I'm sensing a trend. I'm intuitive like that.).

And, as you can see from the giant sticker on the package, it's LUXE. As in DE-luxe. As in treat yourself, you totally deserve this.

Just leave me a comment on this post letting me know you'd like the oh-so-indulgent and almond-y bath set. Don't forget to leave an e-mail address so I can contact you if you win. I'll choose a random winner this weekend and post the name on Monday, February 4. Thanks for stopping by!

(I'm terribly sorry, but I can't afford international shipping so this contest is open to US residents only.)

Bloggy Giveaways Day 3

Carnival_button_2_3 My friends, we are on a roll! We are on Day 3 of the Bloggy Giveaway Carnival and things are rockin'.

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE to give things away? I really do. I enjoy making people happy and I enjoy shopping for and finding (or even making!) the perfect gift for a someone special.

Sometimes I just like making stuff. I get the crafty bug and I knit or I sew until I can't knit or sew any more. Then I look around at the carnage and I think,  "Now what? Who can I give this to?" Because oh my word I have enough purses.

That's where you come in.

This purse is primarily dark pink. I used two yarns, so it turned out speckled for the main body of the purse. Then I switched to just the pink for the trim and strap. Each side of the strap has a decorative green button made in Holland if you're into that sort of thing.

The purse measurements are

  • Tippy-top to very bottom: 27 inches
  • Just the purse body: 10 1/2 inches (length)
  • Across: 8 1/2 inches (width)

What do you think? Could you use a nice pink felted purse? Man, I hope so.

If this hand-made-by-Chilihead pink felted purse is just your style, leave me a comment on this post and tell me so! Don't forget to include an e-mail address so I can contact you if you win. I'll choose a random winner this weekend and announce on Monday, February 4. Thanks for stopping by!

Bloggy Giveaways Day 2

Carnival_button_2_2 Here we are at day 2 of the Bloggy Giveaways Carnival. I know you're going out of your minds wondering what I have for you today, aren't you?

Well, today I have a book.

Not just any book mind you. This book has been to BlogHer '07. In fact, the kind people at sk*rt gave this book to me and several tens of my closest friends and fans.

It's I Was a Really Good Mom Before I Had Kids by Trisha Ashworth and Amy Nobile. This book is brand-spanking new. I have not had time to read it and I doubt I'm going to have time to read it. I'd love to give it to you if you'd like to have it.

Just leave me a comment on this post letting me know you'd like the book and what e-mail I can contact you at if you win. I'll choose a random winner this weekend and post the name on Monday, February 4. Thanks for stopping by!

Bloggy Giveaways Day 1

Carnival_button_2 Shannon's hosting another Bloggy Giveaway Carnival this week. Her guidelines are here.

Basically, I'm giving away free stuff and you don't have to do anything but leave a comment letting me know you'd like to be entered and which e-mail address I can use to contact you if you win.

I'm going to offer something every single day this week. I know, right?!? Because I am Chilihead the benevolent. Lawsie, though, I hope you like what I have to offer.

First up is a lovely tote bag made by yours truly. It is lined. I've made these for friends and family and they all say they love them. I even made myself one and I use it to carry books back and forth from the library. They are quite handy, if I do say so myself.

The fabric is light blue with a dark blue, light blue, and white O pattern. The handle is black mesh--very sturdy. The lining is muslin.

Leave me a comment if you'd like a chance at winning this tote bag. I will choose a winner this weekend and announce on Monday, February 4. Thanks for stopping by!
