Overheard

Tonight Max said, "I just want one thing: for it to stay cold, keep snowing, and no school tomorrow."

And? He totally slept with his pj's inside out last night.

Happy Last Day of NaBloPoMo!

I have successfully posted each and every day this month. Each one! You loved it, didn't you? I know you did. You're welcome.

Now I'm taking a break until next week, because, y'all? This post is about the most exciting thing happening around here (except for the fact that I did seven loads of laundry last night!) and I just can't, in good conscience, bore one more person with this nonsense. So enjoy your weekend!

Those of you hit by the bad weather: stay warm and safe (which translates to stay inside).

Just So You Know, I'm Finally Starting It

For all you people out there (Shalee!) who kept saying I need to read The Time Traveler's Wife: I'm reading it! I'm only on the second chapter, but I like it.

WFMW: Christmas CDs I Love

Wfmw_9

Goslyn was asking which Christmas CDs we love because she doesn't have any. This got me thinking and I decided to do a whole post on this topic. Then I thought some more and decided I'd make it my WFMW post. So here it is, my WFMW: Christmas CDs I love.

This list is not my complete collection of Christmas CDs, but rather my favorite ones (in alphabetical order so as not to show too much favoritism). I'll link them to Amazon.com so you can listen.

Now I have a favor to ask of you. For years my mom has been looking for a Christmas album with lots of bold brass. It should not be mellow in any way. Do any of you have such an album or know of one?

Mark Your Calendars for Dec. 7

MomRn at My Quiet Corner has come up with an idea I think many of you will enjoy. She is inviting everyone to blog about your favorite Christmas memory and share it at her site on December 7. She'll have a Mr. Linky set up so we can all read each other's memories.

Time of Day

Shalee is Noon, I'm her complete opposite.

You Are Midnight
You are more than a little eccentric, and you're apt to keep very unusual habits.
Whether you're a nightowl, living in a commune, or taking a vow of silence - you like to experiment with your lifestyle.
Expressing your individuality is important to you, and you often lie awake in bed thinking about the world and your place in it.
You enjoy staying home, but that doesn't mean you're a hermit. You also appreciate quality time with family and close friends.

That's all pretty much true except I've never even contemplated a vow of silence (you can't laugh or tell jokes!). Those who know me, what do you think? Those who blog, what time of day are you?

Back in the Saddle

Wow. I am just now able to sit down and post about my amazing Thanksgiving weekend. I won't bore you with the details, but I will bore you with the overview.

  • Thanksgiving itself was fine. We enjoyed the food and the company.
  • Friday morning found me awake at 4:30 and shopping until 3:30 that afternoon. It was crazy. No. It was C R A Z Y. I've never in my life seen anything like it. Well, that's not true. Eskimo Joe's used to have street parties in July. If you've ever seen a picture or attended, then you know what Target is like on Black Friday morning at 6:01am.
  • Friday night we went out with friends for a delicious dinner (beef wellington and wine, anyone?) and lots of laughter. If it weren't for a migraine, the night would have been perfect. As it was, I could only stand the migraine for about four hours before I had to call it quits (I really do have an incredibly high threshold for pain). My face hurt from so much smiling, though!
  • Saturday was craft day! I made three pillowcases, two funky stockings (pictures to come), and one pair of pj pants for Max. I still have three pairs of pj pants, two aprons, and two advent calendars to go! I'm in the mood to create y'all! Lock up your fabric and thread, you've been warned!
  • Saturday was also a small golf tourney for Max and Wild Thing. It was only for putting and chipping. Max won third place in the putting for his age/ability group (the only two that beat him were three years older than him). Wild Thing won the chipping and placed second in putting for her age/ability group! Team Chili is coming along quite nicely.
  • Sunday I drove my mom home and helped her go through her fabric. I came out with some very nice vintage fabric and I can't decide what to do with it all! Randi, you need to e-mail me your address, I think!

I'm Funny

Lolaward_1 Well, at least one person thinks so anyway. Lani at The Wooden Porch has awarded me the Laugh Out Loud Monday Award for my Dollar Store post. Thanks, Lani!

And you wanna know why this award is special? Because it's not yellow like all my others. LOL!

Five Things You Don't Know About Me

Hmmm. Kelly, the super-fantastic and very interesting blogger with extremely cute and intelligent kids over at Pass the Torch, has tagged me for this meme. The problem is that I tell you guys just about everything so I have no idea if I can come up with five things you don't know about me. Let's see...

  1. I want to start a secular hand-bell band in my garage. It's true, just ask Antique Mommy.
  2. I have at least one or two guys on the side. Don't tell my husband, but Jeana knows all about them.
  3. For two years in a row my family has sent out very funny Christmas cards. Now everyone is asking me what we're doing this year. I don't know if I can come up with anything!
  4. I'm five years younger than my husband.
  5. I'm named after a folk singer who performed at Woodstock, and it ain't Joan.

Now I tag Jules, Jeana, dcrmom, and Randi. If any of you are not that into memes, you won't hurt my feelings if you don't play. Not everyone is a memer. And then there are those of us truly committed to our blogs. So, you know, no pressure.

Overheard

I was standing in line at the Dollar Store, almost comatose, but people-watching none the less.

I scanned the line behind me and my eye caught a woman on her cell phone. She was quite excited. I could hear her conversation:

"Did you say you were looking into having an alarm system for your house? Well they sell them here at the Dollar Store! Do you want me to pick it up while I'm here?"

You have to be kidding me. I wish I had the address to her trailer.
