Today's featured company:
Stardust Lullaby
A little more about them:
Cher & Gene Klosner, whose music has been recorded by The von Trapp
Children and performed by several symphonies (including the Omaha
Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, Toronto Symphony,
and the Cincinnati Symphony,
conducted by the legendary Erich Kunzel), wanted to educate young ears
by recording as many authentic instruments as possible, rather than
using all synthesized “instrument sound-alikes" that are prevalent on
many children’s recordings.
“I remember as a child the first time I heard Peter and the Wolf– I fell in love with the musical instruments and how they could tell a tale and bring the story to life,” says Cher. “After my son was born, singing and playing lullaby music became part of our ‘night-night’ routine but I became frustrated in discovering that very few lullaby CD's used any real instruments – most used all synthesized instruments that, unfortunately, lack the human touch, feel and emotion that comes from a real instrument and a live player. Out of that frustration came the idea for Stardust, in which we utilized authentic instruments wherever possible including grand piano, cello, flute, violin, oboe, clarinet, vibes, acoustic guitar and more.”
Some examples of what they do:
Stardust is an award-winning, 2-disc lullaby
collection for all ages, featuring rich, lilting female and male vocals and authentic instrumentation performed by
symphony, conservatory and jazz players (none of that annoying synthesizer stuff
that you find on most kids CDs). Stardust is getting fantastic reviews
from highly respected Children's Music Reviewers, such as Phil Corless, "A Family Runs
Through It," Stephanie Mondrut, "Hear It, Love It, Share
It" (April 10) and many more. The cover
artwork is by Emmy-Award winning animator and artist, Ben Lane.

I'm with them on Peter and the Wolf - it is amazing! I need to get a recording to share with my kid(s) as they get older.
I'm at work where I can't listen to music right now, but I looked at the lyrics and I love the sentiment of "You’ll Never Be Too Old For a Lullaby."

Count Your Blessings (Instead of Sheep) sounds slightly like one Schumann's Etudes, and echoes from my youth, through time.
