Today's featured company:
Dorling Kindersley: Quest for the Lost City of Gold
A little more about them:
At the start of Quest for the Lost City of Gold,
a cryptic postcard from a former teacher arrives at Stephen’s home. These
teacher lures Stephen - and the reader – on a quest from building to
building across the globe. When Stephen arrives at each building, he
gathers information to help solve the riddle and draw the building as it was at
a pivotal moment in its history and at its most majestic. The quest
begins at Sydney Opera House, and
leads to an assortment of ten architectural monoliths, including the Empire State Building, Hagia Sophia, Angkor Wat
and the Colosseum. The
exciting combination of sketches, photographs and intricate ‘inside
out’ recreations of famous buildings paired with clues and codes, make
this a compelling book that young readers will enjoy on many levels. Each code
breaker receives two posters, a tunnel viewer, stickers and riddle card to help
complete the quest. (For ages
10+; retail value is $19.99 per book.)

I liked the Nature Encyclopedia for the 5-8 year old age group. My daughter is so curious about bugs, animals, plants and anything else to do with the outdoors that I could see her pouring over it for hours. It looks like there are so many other good ones to choose from as well. Thanks!

Our family LOVES DK books. Both my son and daughter love the Star Wars visual dictionaries, cross-section books, and others. We own a number from the Eyewitness series. Our most recent acquisition is the Cool Stuff 2.0, another great title.
This book sounds so awesome, that if we don't end up winning it, I will likely purchase it to add to our collection.

My son is all about ancient Rome right now, so I'd pick one of Peter Ackroyd's titles, but I'd also take any of the life science titles.

The whole family loves the Eyewitness Books series; we can sit in the library poring over those for hours. My DD's favorite is the Mummy book. My husband and I are crazy about their travel books, especially all the great cross-sections of historic buildings that they use.
